Many patients come in asking me why we use the suction tools that we do to clean your teeth. This is a very interesting question and I believe a lot of people bring it up because it does tickle, and it is a unique tool that is being used. Reasons that Suctions Tools are Used in CleaningsThere are a few different reasons why these tools are used in cleanings. One of the biggest is that we do not want to drown you with the water that we use to power wash the outside of your teeth. When we are doing any sort of cleaning or work that requires water, we will use the suction to catch it before it trickles down your throat. Another reason is because we do not want all of that plaque, tartar and buildup to go down your throat. We are trying to catch this as we scrape it off the outside of your teeth because this can end up causing build up in blood streams and arteries. No one wants that. This is why we are removing the plaque in the first place. If you’re having a filling done by me or if you need one replaced, then I use the suction tool to make sure that anything I drill out doesn’t go down your throat. These pieces are not only unhealthy to ingest, but they are sharp and uncomfortable. You’re not going to want to swallow any of the pieces. If you need a cleaning, don’t hesitate to give our office a call. Whether you are a new or established patient, we can set up a time for you to come in for a cleaning and exam. Everyone is happier with cleaner, better looking and feeling teeth. We just help you along the way. Call today to set something up! |
