If you are an adult, you may have been living with imperfect teeth for a long time. In fact, many adults can make it through their days just fine with imperfect teeth. However, there are times imperfect teeth can become a problem. Sometimes, the problem is slight, but other times, the problem can grow into a severe problem. You need to get your imperfect teeth looked at for more reasons than just a momentary pain. Those Imperfect Teeth ProblemsIt is estimated that a third of Americans are not happy with the appearance of their teeth, because they are imperfect. Imperfect teeth is a wide, general term that could mean everything from a few crooked teeth, to gaps in between teeth to teeth that are only partially erupted, or that came in wrong. Sometimes, imperfect teeth can cause pain, especially when you bite down. However, imperfect teeth can lead to other problems. For example, if you have a wisdom tooth that has not erupted yet, it may be unable to erupt, and can become infected. Infections in your mouth are never good. They can lead to infections throughout your body. Also, if your teeth are cracked or chipped, infection can also set in there. Cracked and chipped teeth can lead to tooth loss-not just of one tooth, but of several teeth. This can lead to loss of bone mass in the jaw, which makes your jaw more unstable, and also makes you look older. Imperfect teeth that are crowding other teeth, or that have erupted over other teeth, also need to be looked at, because these teeth may lead to larger issues within the jaw itself. In other words, ignoring imperfect teeth, even if they don’t hurt, make the problem worse. If you have questions about your imperfect teeth, give us a call.
