Maintaining your hygiene is not a job that you can take a vacation away from and expect to have anything good come from it. When you are going to travel it's important to bring the tools you will need to maintain good oral health throughout the trip. Our office has some tips and suggestions that can make it possible to practice good habits while you are traveling. What to Bring for Your TripBefore you leave, make a trip to your local grocery store and purchase a travel toothbrush. This is important because if your toothbrush stays wet, packed in a bag, it can begin to become saturated with bacteria. Next, pick up a small tube of toothpaste. If you are flying, it's going to be important to bring sizes that security will allow you to bring aboard the plane. Don't forget to pack your floss or floss loops. Purchase a good fluoride toothpaste that is less than 3.5 oz, you don't want to lose your oral hygiene kit going through security. The same goes for your mouthwash, keep it below 3.5 oz. Pre-Travel TipsDepending on the length of the trip you're going on, you may want to visit our office for a checkup and cleaning to ensure you don't have any surprises pop up while on your trip. Again, depending on the length, you may want to contact your dental insurance and verify it's covering emergency dental work, just in case something pops up. If your trip is going to last longer than a few weeks it makes sense to look up a list of credible dental clinics in the area. It's important to remember that it's human to fall out of your normal routine when you go on a vacation or trip. Don't let your oral healthcare go on vacation as well. Enjoy your trip and if you need a pre-trip dental check-up, we would be happy to look you over. Give our office a call and we will schedule an appointment as soon as possible. |
